Held at the NEC, Birmingham during May, Railtex 2019 has come and gone. “We at Sika couldn’t be happier with the result,” says Stuart Selwood, Key Account Manager for Transportation. “First, we want to thank all those that stopped by. We had many conversations around the Sika Technologies that were on display. A great mix of Original Equipment Manufacturers, Aftermarket, Operators and Design Consultancies took advantage of the team, some of which specialise in structural bonding and rail and were flown in from Switzerland for the event.
“One of the key topics for us at Sika is the continued need and development of lightweight structures to be included in the build of rolling stock and we have some innovative solutions to help industry to achieve this. Smartcore is at the heart of our structural epoxy systems giving the user confidence in strength and durability with unmatched impact resistance. Using the experience of Sika Automotive, leading innovators in heat cured epoxies, we have put together a batch of products that will lead the way in the future development of metal bonding and mixed material bonding of which the latter is key to some lightweight designs.”
The message at the show was simple: Sika are more than flexible adhesives. Stuart Selwood adds: “We are renowned in the marketplace for Sikaflex branded materials, but we have a much bigger portfolio of products that include not only structural bonding, but Intumescent Coatings for fire protection, underbody protective coatings with acoustic properties and semi structural adhesives designed to give the user the best experience in manufacturing.
“Imagine a semi flexible adhesive that can cure on command. Well, this is something we can now achieve with our Powerflex product. We have a significant level of expertise in this industry with leading technical capabilities locally in the UK and Switzerland. Speak to the team today.”
